OpenInventor and OpenCascade

Hi. Can someone comment on the benefits of opencascade over openinventor from SGI ?

Open Inventor is a C++ library for 3D Graphics. Open CASCADE is a C++ library for geometry and solid modeling.

You are comparing apples and oranges. Although there are facilities for displaying graphics in Open CASCADE, the real function of the library is to do the math. There are dozens of graphics libraries, (if not hundreds), but there are very few solid modeling libraries, and Open CASCADE is the only open source solid modeler.

If you want to display a 3D rendering of an object then Inventor is your tool, but if you want to find the object's volume and calculate the nearest point on the object to an arbitrary plane, then Open CASCADE is the solution.
